Army Civilian Benefit Association Meets Its Members

Sri Lanka Army Civilian Benefit Association (SLACBA) which takes care of the welfare aspect of all civil personnel, working in the Sri Lanka Army, had its 25th Annual General Meeting (AGM) - 2017 at the National Youth Council auditorium in Maharagama on Tuesday (31).

Lighting of the traditional oil lamp, observance of religion, a two-minute silence in memory of all fallen civil employees and War Heroes, reading of the preceding year’s minutes and the progress review followed after the welcome address was delivered by the General Secretary of the SLACBA, Mr H.M Wijeyarathna.

The founder chairperson of the SLACBA, Mr E Jinadasa afterwards recalled the history behind founding of the SLACBA 25 years ago.

Adjutant General of the Army, Major General A.S de Z Wickramarathne as the Chief Guest for the occasion in a brief address, commended the services of the civil personnel in the Army and paid tribute to the memory of fallen members.

Afterwards, the SLACBA distributed gift parcels and cash incentives for members who had served the Army for more than 20 years under the special welfare project launched by the SLACBA.

Similarly, a number of mementos were awarded to members who had done so much for the best interest of the association before the minutes were seconded during the sessions. Presentation of new suggestions, amendments, accounts, and the election of new office-bearers took place before a new board of executive members was appointed. The vote of thanks brought the session to an end.

Mr L.D.C Mahanama, Director, Directorate of Civil Administration together with several senior officials attended the day’s event.

Special financial donations, each Rs 30000/= were also distributed among five civil servants who are suffering long-term diseases. On the same occasion, two students who passed the recent Grade 5 scholarship examination were given Rs 15000/= each as a help towards their concern.
