Army Chief Visits War Heroes at ‘Abhimansala 3’ with New Year Wishes

The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, together with Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, the President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), visited battle-hardened War Heroes at Abhimansala - 3 Wellness Resort, on Wednesday (10 April 2024), to share New Year greetings for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year - 2024.

Upon arrival, the day's Chief Guest was greeted in a Drive Pass at the entrance in accordance with military formalities. A resident War Hero then welcomed the Commander of the Army.

At the outset, the Commander of the Army, along with the gathering, visited the villas, farm, water therapy section, Ayurvedic center, prosthetic and orthotic workshop, hospital and other facilities in the premises.

Brigadier P.K.G.C Pasquel, the Commandant of the Wellness Resort, then delivered the welcome remarks. Afterwards, all participated in lunch with the inmates. Following this, the Commander of the Army and President of ASVU distributed gift packs to the residents.

During his address, the Commander of the Army, extended his best wishes to all who are still undergoing treatments and their families for a Happy New Year filled with new hopes, peace, happiness, prosperity and health. Further, he highly appreciated the War Heroes for their service rendered to the nation and wished for speedy recovery.

Later on, an exchange of mementos took place symbolizing the day’s visit and the gathering moved to the swimming pool area to take a look on handcraft and mystery paintings created by the resident War Heroes.

Before leaving, the Army Chief posed for a photograph with the inmates and left some complimentary remarks in the visitors' book. Major General M.W.T.C Mettananda USP ndc, the Commander, Army Logistic Command, Major General W.W.H.R.R.V.M.N.D.K.B Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, the Adjutant General, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present at the event.
