COMMANDER OF THE ARMY, Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka this morning (09) flew to Jaffna with a view to assessing security related developments in the peninsula.
Commander met Jaffna Security Forces Commander Major General G.A.Chandrasiri and a host of senior Division and Brigade Commanders serving Jaffna peninsula where he received a feedback on the status quo. Army chief also paid special attention on matters of concern to the troops as well as the civil population.
Lieutenant General Fonseka after giving a patient hearing to Jaffna military chiefs commended the troops for their professionalism shown in their work in the wake of rising LTTE violence.
