Army Chief Pays Courtesies to Navy Commander

The Sri Lanka Navy Headquarters on Monday (6) extended a red carpet welcome to the 24th Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage when he made his first courtesy call on Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenna, Commander of the Navy at his office after assumption of new office.

Seconds after the Commander of the Army arrived at the Navy Headquarters, he was warmly received by Rear Admiral Prasad Kariyapperuma, Director General Navy (Administration) and ushered him to accept the salute in the Guard of Honour in conformity with military traditions.

Next, the Navy Commander after a warm handshake introduced his Principal Staff Officers, including the Chief of Staff of the Navy to the day’s Chief Guest, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage and invited him to the office of the Navy Commander.

Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenna during cordial interactions with the new Commander of the Army shared thoughts on future assignments of the Army in terms of the national security, nation-building and other matters of general concern. The Navy Commander offered his compliments, best wishes on his new office and awarded a special memento to the new Army Chief. The gesture was reciprocated.
