Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army and Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President of Army Seva Vanitha Unit participated in the Pattana Dharma Sermon held at Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya on 17 June 2024. The event organised by the members of Pattana Dharma Sabha, commenced with the ceremonial procession of the Sacred Relic Casket of Lord Buddha and Ridhi Poth Vahanse to the premises of Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya, followed by a welcome address by Ven. Korathota Wessabhu Thero.
The keynote address was delivered by Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Thero, and a ceremonial offering took place with the participation of Ven. Dimbulkumbure Wimaladharma Thero, Deputy Chief Incumbent of Malwathu Maha Viharaya. Subsequently, the Army Chief placed the Sacred Relic Casket of Lord Buddha in the chamber of Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya amidst chanting of pirith by the maha sangha. The Patthana Dharma Sermon was then conducted by the members of the maha sangha as the culminating event of the day.
Major General W.P.A.D.W. Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander Security Forces - Wanni, Major General H.H.K.S.S. Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc, General Officer Commanding, 21 Infantry Division, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and a large number of devotees participated in the event.
