Army Chief Meets Wanni Ground Commanders

BARELY THREE DAYS after Sri Lankans marked their national New Year, Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka flew to Vavuniya this morning (18) with a view to receiving an update regarding the progress of the military fights meant for liberation of the suffering masses in Wanni.

Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka, accompanied by several Senior Officers, had a round of discussions with ground commanders and senior officers.

The brief meeting at Wanni Headquarters attended by Security Force Commander Wanni Major General Jagath Jayasuriya and Commanders of Divisions, Brigades and Units focused on developments of the war fronts and logistics.

Commander commented on follow up actions and issued further instructions on relevant issues.
