Army Chief at Maduruoya SFTS Inaugurates New Urban Obstacle Course for Training Purposes

Soon after Sunday's (21) main segment of the Passing out Parade (POP) concluded, the Commander was invited to inaugurate the newly-constructed Urban Obstacle Course, a new addition to the Special Forces Training School (SFTS) premises at Maduru Oya where a comprehensive urban simulation of the surroundings has been erected exclusively for training purposes in order to provide the trainees with real scenario set-ups.

Unveiling a plaque, the Chief Guest vested this newly-constructed SFTS' outdoor training area with the SFTS. The new simulated area, well-structured with obstacles enables SF trainees to undergo gruelling endurance capacities for enhancement of their energy, strength, agility, mobility, flexibility, etc which in turn help groom the SF soldier to meet with modern-day challenges and other vulnerabilities.

A column of SF troops then staged its maiden demonstration in the hypothetical setting and showcased how they would counter such threats. The day's Chief Guest was then invited to leave memories by planting a sapling in the same compound before he moved out. He also interacted with a segment of invited parents and relatives of those SF graduates and shared a few thoughts with the attendees, present there and inquired into welfare aspects and other matters of concern to them.
