The Sri Lanka Army Hockey Team, which recently triumphed in the inaugural ‘Next Gen’ Premier League Hockey Championship 2024, was invited to the Commander’s Office at Army Headquarters on 12 November 2024 to honour their victory.
Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the players for their outstanding performance and for bringing pride to the Sri Lanka Army during ‘Next Gen’ Premier League Hockey Championship 2024 which took place on 09 November 2024 at the Artificial Hockey Turf, Colombo. During the event, he interacted with the team members, acknowledging their dedication and commitment.
As a token of appreciation, the Commander awarded the team a financial incentive to purchase sports items and conveyed his best wishes for their future endeavours.
Brigadier L.K.T. Fernando RSP USP, Director of Army Sports, the Team Manager and Mr. M.G.M. Rifaz, the team’s coach participated in the event.
Following this, the team proceeded to meet the Chief of Staff, who also extended his appreciation for their remarkable achievement.
