The Graduation Ceremony of the Logistics Staff Course (LSC) No. 10 was held at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) auditorium on 05 December 2024. Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was warmly welcomed by Brigadier R.T. Lokuthotahewa USP psc, Commandant of the Army School of Logistics (ASL).
The LSC, recognised as the premier professional course in Administration and Logistics, is conducted under the direct guidance of the Sri Lanka Army. This year-long, full-time residential course culminates in the award of the post-nominal title ‘Lsc’ upon successful completion. Additionally, the ASL collaborates with KDU to award a Master of Business Administration in Logistics Management (MBA in LM).
LSC No. 10 commenced on 03 January 2024, with the participation of 27 Officers comprising 24 Officers from the Sri Lanka Army, 2 Officers from the Sri Lanka Air Force, and 1 Officer from the Zambian Army.
The ceremony began with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp by distinguished guests, followed by attendees standing for the Army Song. One-minute silence was observed in honour of fallen war heroes. A documentary film highlighting the course activities was then screened, and the Commandant of ASL delivered the welcome speech.
Parchments were presented to the graduates by the Chief Guest in the order of precedence, while special awards were conferred upon officers who demonstrated exceptional academic performance. Major V.S.K. Samarawickrama of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps was recognised as both the Best Student Officer and the Best Logistics Planner.
During the ceremony, the “Golden Log 2024”, the ASL's annual journal, was officially launched and presented to the Chief Guest and other distinguished attendees.
The event concluded with the presentation of a commemorative memento to the Commander of the Army by the Commandant of ASL, in appreciation of his presence.
Among the distinguished attendees were the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, Vice Chancellor of KDU, Heads of Diplomatic Missions, members of the Diplomatic Corps, the ASL Board of Management, members of the academic community, Senior Officers from the Tri-services, and the families of the graduates.
