Army Chief Delivers Lecture on the Future of the Sri Lanka Army at DSCSC

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, delivered the customary ‘Commander’s Lecture’ at the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) in Sapugaskanda on 06 December 2024.

The DSCSC is renowned for its international academic reputation and provides advanced training for tri-service officers, equipping them with command and staff expertise while fostering intellectual capabilities to meet future responsibilities and challenges. This lecture was attended by both local and international undergraduates enrolled in Course No. 18.

Major General D.K.S.K. Dolage USP psc, Commandant of DSCSC, after a warm reception, introduced the day’s lecturer to the audience at the DSCSC auditorium, where 150 undergraduates, including 78 Officers from the Army, 21 Officers from the Navy, 26 Officers from the Air Force, and 25 foreign Officers from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, the USA, and Zambia, were seated awaiting the Army Chief’s arrival and his words of wisdom.

The Army Chief’s guest lecture, themed “Reforms of the Sri Lanka Army in 2030,” focused largely on modernisation, capacity-building, technological integration, and strategic adaptability.

At the end of the lecture, DSCSC undergraduates had the opportunity to interact with the guest speaker during a question-and-answer session. Following this, the Chief Instructor of the Air Wing delivered the vote of thanks. The Commandant of DSCSC, on behalf of all undergraduates, expressed his gratitude to the Commander of the Army for his presence by presenting a memento. The Army Chief also reciprocated the gesture by presenting a memento. Prior to his departure, the Commander of the Army was invited to pen his thoughts and complimentary remarks in the DSCSC Visitors’ Book.
