Army Chief Commends Sri Lankan Women's Cricket Team Members for Asia Cup Achievements

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, invited the members of the Sri Lankan Women’s Cricket Team who represented the Sri Lanka Army in the Asia Cup, to his office on 05 August 2024.

The sportswomen, Staff Sergeant D.M.S.M.K Dasanayake, Staff Sergeant W.G.A.K Kulasooriya, Staff Sergeant N.N.D Silva of 2 Sri Lanka Women’s Corps (SLAWC), and Corporal M.A.A Sanjeewani of 3 SLAWC, were recognised for their exceptional performance in the Asia Cup.

During the meeting, the Army Chief expressed his pride and congratulated the team for their remarkable achievements. He commended their dedication, hard work, and perseverance, which have not only earned the admiration of cricket enthusiasts but also brought honour to the Sri Lanka Army and the country.

The event concluded with the presentation of financial assistance and mementoes to encourage the team.
