Major General C.P. Arangalla psc, the Director General of the Green Agriculture and Agriculture Modernization Operations Centre, was invited to the office of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, on 19 September 2024, prior to his retirement from the Sri Lanka Army.
During the meeting, the Army Chief commended the Senior Officer for his unwavering dedication and exemplary performance in various challenging roles throughout his career, both during the war and the post-war era. In response, Major General C.P. Arangalla psc expressed profound gratitude for the steadfast guidance and support provided by the Army Chief. Towards the end of the interaction, the Commander of the Army presented a special memento to the retiring Senior Officer as a symbol of appreciation and commendation.
Major General C.P. Arangalla psc enlisted in the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army to Intake 35B as an Officer Cadet on 03 November 1990. Upon successfully completing military training at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy in Ratmalana and the Sri Lanka Military Academy in Diyatalawa, he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant and posted to the Sri Lanka Signal Corps on 14 November 1992. After steadily elevating through the ranks during his service in the Army, he was promoted to the rank of Major General on 16 February 2024. The Senior Officer will retire from the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army with effect from 25 September 2024, upon reaching 55 years of age.

The Senior Officer has completed numerous local and foreign courses during his military career, including the Officers Par Excellence Course, Instructors Course (Special Forces Training School (SFTS)), Operational Staff Duties Course, Radar Course (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)), Army Command and Staff Course, Training Course on Maintenance of Radar in China, Signals Young Officers Course in India, and Army Command and Staff Course in Pakistan.
In addition, the Senior Officer has pursued non-military courses such as a Bachelor of Science (Defence Studies) in Electrical Engineering at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy, Master of Science in Defence Studies at the University of Kelaniya, Master of Science in Defence and Management at the University of Balochistan in Pakistan, and Master of Arts in Security Studies (Civil-Military Relations) at the Naval Postgraduate School in the United States of America.
