Major General P.P.A Perera Hdmc psc, Chief Field Engineer of the Army Headquarters, was invited to the Office of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, on 10 July 2024, together with his family members, prior to his retirement from the Sri Lanka Army after a notable career of 34 years.
During the meeting, the Army Chief praised the Senior Officer for his tireless dedication and exemplary performance in various challenging roles throughout his tenure, both during the war against terrorism and in the post-war era. The Army Commander also acknowledged the pivotal role played by his dedicated family throughout his career.
In response, Major General P.P.A Perera Hdmc psc expressed profound gratitude for the steadfast guidance and support given to him by the Army Chief. Toward the end of the interaction, the Commander of the Army presented a special memento to the retiring Senior Officer as a symbol of appreciation and commendation, along with gifts for his family.

Major General P.P.A Perera Hdmc psc enlisted in the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet in Intake KDA - 07, on 14 November 1989. Upon successful completion of military training at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy and the Sri Lanka Military Academy - Diyatalawa, he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant and posted to the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers on 14 November 1991. After being steadily elevated to subsequent ranks throughout his service in the Army, he was promoted to the rank of Major General on 04 February 2023. The Senior Officer will be retiring from the Sri Lanka Army on 16 July 2024 upon reaching 55 years of age. At the time of his retirement, he was holding the appointment of Chief Field Engineer, Army Headquarters.

The Senior Officer also pursued several higher educational and non-military courses, such as the GIS and Applications Course at the University of Peradeniya, Bachelor of Science (Defence Studies) in Civil Engineering at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy, Master of Management Studies at Osmania University, Hyderabad, India and Master of Business Administration at the University of Colombo.
