Army Chief, Chief Guest to Open 'Victory & Peace' Art Exhibition at Colombo Russian Centre

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army Monday evening (21) was the Chief Guest for the inauguration of the Art Exhibition, themed ‘Victory and Peace’ at the Russian Centre in Colombo, coincident with the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the 2nd World War.

The Art Exhibition, organized by the Russian School of Art in the Russian Centre in Colombo showcases the talents of those students and will remain open to the public for a period of one week from Monday (21) until 30 September 2020.

HE Yuri Materiy, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Sri Lanka, Ms Anastasia Khokhlova, Director of the Russian Centre in Colombo, Mr Buddhapriya Ramanayake, Chief Executive Officer of the Russian Centre and Colonel Denis I. Shkoda, Military, Air and Naval Attaché of the Embassy of the Russian Federation were among those who attended the inauguration on Monday (21).

Those participating students of the Russian School of Art were awarded certificates of recognition by distinguished guests at the same occasion. They also presented their aesthetic talents before the gathering by way of dancing features. Mrs Sujeewa Nelson, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit was also among the invitees who afterwards joined the distribution of certificates to those young artists.
