Army Chief Attends KDU Convocation Ceremony at BMICH

The General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) held its annual convocation ceremony on 14 and 15 October 2024 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH). Undergraduates from various academic disciplines, including Strategic Studies and International Relations, Medicine, Engineering, Law, Management, Allied Health Sciences, Built Environment and Spatial Sciences, as well as Computing, received their graduation certificates upon successfully completing their academic programmes.

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army, attended the convocation ceremony.

During the event, 1,728 graduates were awarded PhDs, Master's degrees, Bachelor's degrees and Postgraduate Diplomas. Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, graced the event as the Chief Guest. He presented certificates to students who excelled in their respective fields of study. In his speech, the Secretary extended heartfelt congratulations to the graduates, applauding their significant achievements and dedication to their studies.

Chief of Defence Satff, Commanders of the Navy and Air Force, the acting Inspector General of Police, Heads of Universities, Government Officials, the Academic Staff of KDU, Tri-service Officers, parents of the graduates, and a large gathering of distinguished invitees witnessed the day’s proceedings.
