Army Chief Attends the Inauguration of KDU - City Campus of Technology Project

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, attended the inauguration ceremony of the Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) City Campus of Technology Project on 21 July 2024 at Dambulla. The event was graced by Honourable Premitha Bandara Thennakoon, the State Minister of Defence.

Following religious observances, the Chief Guest unveiled the plaque alongside with the General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and the Army Chief. After the unveiling, the plaque, Chief Guest and other dignitaries took their seats. Rear Admiral H.G.U.D Kumara VSV USP psc M Maritime Pol Bsc (DS), the Vice Chancellor of KDU, extended a warm welcome to the gathering.

Subsequently, the Chief Guest addressed the audience, underscoring the critical role of academic institutions like KDU in shaping the future of the nation's youth and servicemen. Further, he emphasized the importance of such establishments in upholding national security and reiterated the commitment to safeguarding the country's best interests.

The event concluded with the project briefing by Day Scholars of the Build Environment and Special Science (BESS) at General Sir John Kotelawala Defense University Southern Campus, followed by a tea party.

Government Agent Matale District, Commander Security Forces (Central), General Officer Commanding of 53 Infantry Division, Senior Officers and Officers participated in the event.
