Army Chief Attends the Graduation Ceremony of the NDC's Third Batch

The third batch of students from the National Defence College (NDC) were awarded their graduation certificates on 18 November 2024 at the Faculty of Graduate Studies Auditorium, Kotelawala Defence University. Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army attended the event as a distinguished guest.

The event was graced by the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) WWV, RWP and two Bars, RSP and Bar, USP, MMSc (Strat Stu - China), MSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), fndu (China), psc, as the Chief Guest.

During the event a total of 41 Student Officers, comprising 16 Senior Officers from the Sri Lanka Army, 08 from the Sri Lanka Navy, 06 from the Sri Lanka Air Force, 03 Senior Superintendents of Police, and 08 foreign students (01 from India, 01 from Bangladesh, 01 from Oman, and 05 from Saudi Arabia), received their graduation certificates after completing their studies in National Security and Strategic Studies (NS&SS).

The event commenced with the recitation of the National Anthem and a minute of silence in honour of fallen War Heroes. The parchments conferring the ‘ndc’ designation were then awarded to the graduates by the Chief Guest. Shortly afterward, Major General D.G.S Senarath Yapa (Retd) RWP RSP ndu, the Commandant of the NDC, endorsed the graduates' registration book and welcomed the gathering.

Later, the Chief Guest addressed the audience and congratulated the graduates. This was followed by the launch of the Research Journal Volume II and the presentation of a memento to the Chief Guest by the NDC Commandant.

Before the conclusion of the ceremony, the Chief Guest posed for a group photograph.

A distinguished gathering, including the Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Navy, Commander of the Air Force, Inspector General of Police, and a large number of Senior Officers, was present to witness the graduation of the NDC's third batch.
