Army Chief Attends Enshrinement of Relics in the Neelagiri Maha Seya

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army together with Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, President of Army Seva Vanitha Unit took part in the enshrinement of sacred relics in the 'Neelagiri Maha Seya' which was conducted on 15 July 2024, amidst the gracious presence of General Kamal Gunaratne (Rtd) WWV RWP RSP USP ndc psc MPhil, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence along with Mrs. Chithrani Gunarathna as the Chief Guest and the presiding presence of Venerable Kahagolle Somavansha Thero.

The 'Neelagiri Maha Seya,' is currently under construction at Lahugala by the troops of the Sri Lanka Air Force, on the direct supervision of Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa RSP VSV USP rcds psc, Commander of the Air Force.

The formal proceedings began with the observance of the five precepts by the Maha Sangha. This was followed by Anushashana presided over by Venerable Agulgamuwe Ariyananda Thero. Afterwards, the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and the Commander of the Air Force addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of the occasion.

Clergy, both serving and retired Senior Officers from Tri-forces, Police Officers and a large number of local devotees participated in the ceremony.
