Extending all posiible support for 'Sirasa Niwasa' house construction project for deserving families on the directions of Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, 3 Gemunu Watch (GW) troops under command to the 61 Division of the Security Force HQ-West jointly constructed one more new home for a needy family in Kirinda Puhulwella area with funds and resources, made available by the MTV/MBC, 'Sirasa' Media network which sought the Army expertise, technical and manpower assistance in this regard.
On Friday (21), Major W.A.K.U Chandika, Commanding Officer, 3 GW graced the auspicious inaugural house-warming ceremony as the chief guest, together with Mrs Needra Weerasinghe, Head of the MTV and MBC Network representing the 'Sirasa Niwasa' and vested the new house in the beneficiary, Ms Pradeepa Priyangani.
Major General Jayantha Senevirathna, Commander Security Forces –West enabled his technically-skilled engineering and other troops to complete the project in close coordination with Major General Palitha Fernando, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division who aterwards guided the 3 GW Battalion troops to undertake the task and provide their expertise to construct this house.
The sponsors, ' Sirasa Niwasa' in order to mitigate the costs of the project turned to the Commander of the Army in search of Army manpower and their construction skills for erection of this much-needed house as part of their Civil-Military coordination project. In accordance with ancient traditions, the day's chief guest and the sponsors at the auspicious minute unveiled a plaque, participated in rites and rituals and gifted the family with several essentials.
