Troops of the 68 Division under Security Forces Headquarters, Mullaittivu, considering the long-felt requirement for Teachers’ Quarters at Valvapuram Bharathiya Vidyalaya and Theravil Tamil Vidyalaya compounds in the 683 Brigade area, volunteered and constructed two residential units for both schools.
Principals, Teachers and some parents, very much perturbed, due to non-availability of residential quarters for teachers coming from remote areas to those schools for teaching, brought this need to the attention of military authorities who are enthusiastically engaged in development work in those areas.
Troops on the instructions of 68 Division General Officer Commanding, Brigadier K.P.A Jayasekara completed both new quarters within a short period and ceremonially handed them over to those schools recently during a simple ceremony, headed by Major General L.B.R Mark, Commander, Security Forces Headquaters, Mullaittivu.
This humanitarian project was made possible due to tireless efforts of 11 Sri Lanka Artillery and 10 Sri Lanka Signal Corps troops serving the 683 Brigade.
