ABA Intermediate Boxing Tournament, organized by Sri Lanka Boxing Association (novice) was competed by 156 boxers, belonging to 16 boxing leagues, including those of the Army at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium during May 27 - 31.
Sri Lanka Army boxers won the championship in 3 weight categories and the runners-up slots in 4 weight categories, in addition to seven third slots they won in the tournament.
Similarly, woman boxers of the Army after competing in 3 weight categories won the championship in one event and the runners-up slot in one weight category and the third place in the remaining weight category.
Lance Corporal S.K.P Samarakoon of 2 Battalion Sri Lanka Army Military Police was adjudged the Best Boxer in the tournament.
Sri Lanka Army Boxing Committee, chaired by Brigadier W.G.L Padmakumara has coordinated the participation of Army boxers.
