Sri Lanka Army Boxers triumphantly concluded the Layton Cup Boxing Tournament as top rankers winning 11 Gold, 06 Silver and 15 Bronze Medals, during the tournament held at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium.
The tournament continued from 1 - 4 October with the participation of leading boxing clubs of Sri Lanka including Tri-Services.
The Layton Cup Boxing Tournament is a prime national boxing tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Boxing Association. 44 Army boxers took part in the tournament and secured 8 Gold, 04 Silver and 13 Bronze medals in the Men’s category while women boxers bagging 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals in the finals.
In addition, Private H.K.N.M Perera of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps was crowned as the Best Boxer in the women’s category.
Brigadier P.A.M Peiris RSP USP psc, Director, Directorate of Sports, Senior Officers, Officers and a large crowd of spectators witnessed the thrilling encounters.
