Sri Lanka Army Baseball players, competing in the Defence Service Games (DSG), held for three consecutive days (June 19, 20 & 21) at Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, won the championship trophy after a close tussle with the rival Sri Lanka Navy team.
This was the first time Baseball was introduced to the DSG as a new entity but Army, Navy and Air Force teams enthusiastically played in the tournament.
In the finals, Army Baseball players beat the rival (7 - 6) after a very close fight for supremacy and recorded the victory for the first time in the tournament.
Army Baseball Committee is chaired by Major General P.U.S. Vithanage.
