Army Athletes Shine in 400 m & Javelin Throw in Asian Grand Prix

Sri Lankan Army Athletes finished with one Silver and three Bronze medals in the Asian Grand Prix series held at Jiangjin, China during 4 - 7 June.

In the women’s 400 m, Lance Corporal Nadeesha Ramanayaka of 5 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps won a Silver medal after a close tussle and clocking 53.24 seconds against her third contender. Similarly, during the second leg of the Asian Grand Prix, the same Lance Corporal Nadeesha Ramanayaka won a Bronze medal.

Private Sumedha Ranasinghe of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers throwing the javelin to a distance of 76.92 m in the Javelin Throwing (first stage) won a Bronze medal. Similarly, he won a Bronze medal in the second leg of the Asian Grand Prix throwing the javelin to a distance of 75.58 m in China.
