The Sri Lanka Army Athlete, Ushan Thiwanka Perera recently established a new Sri Lankan record in High Jump by recording 2.30 m in the US Texas Relays Athletic Championship.
Presently, he is undergoing training in the US to reach Olympic standards.
By considering his talents, General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army granted financial incentives for his future success at the request of Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Chairman, Army Athletics Committee and Commander Security Forces-Kilinochchi.
This is the second time the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army granted financial incentives for his future success.
