Army 'Aamisa' Pooja for Poson Day Illuminates AHQ Surroundings

Respecting age-old Buddhist traditions and adhering to health safety guidelines and social distancing practices, glimpses of 'Poson' spirits, were depicted as a tenet of the 'Aamisa' Pooja in Buddhist teachings through Army crafted 24 huge multi-coloured creative lanterns and other illuminated decorations, kept on display during 6-7 & today (8) along the road that leads to the Army Headquarters at Battaramulla, Sri Jayawardenepura.

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army while shouldering the burden of containing the COVID-19 virus threat with all other stakeholders with the aim of breaking the monotony of the Army troops, heavily engaged in virus preventive work, instructed all 24 regiments of the Army to produce creative lanterns of the best quality for display as a tribute since 'Poson' remains the milestone turning point for religious, cultural and social renaissance of the country for many centuries with the arrival of the Arahant, Mihindu from Dambadiva.

The Army Chief unveiled the lanterns and other decorations in the surroundings, adjacent to the AHQ on Wednesday (3) and took time off to visit each and every decoration while sharing a few thoughts with the troops.

Each well-lit lantern narranted one of the exemplary life-time Jathaka stories of the Buddha, some of which had been demonstrated through mechanical functioning with life-size replicas and so on. Spectators were seen closely watching those exhibits after dusk fell on both days. Troops also took steps to ensure social distancing and other health practices for the sight-seers nearing those lanterns. Sportswear free shipping | NIKE HOMME
