Ambassadors Designate Visit Wanni

Several ambassadors designate who are to resume office shortly in foreign capitals were recently in Wanni with a view to learning ground realities, prior to their assumption of duties.

Messrs C.M.H.M. Wijeratne (Kuwait), M.A.K.K. Girihagama (Oman), Kalyananda Godage (Malaysia), Asitha Perera (Italy), Tissa Wijeratne (Korea), Handunnetti Ratnapala Piyasiri (Myanmar), Admiral A.S.P. Samarasinghe (Australia), Ms Priyamali Dissanayake and Nayana Priyangani were among the members of designate ambassadors.

Major General A.K.S. Perera, Commander, Security Forces, Wanni after receipt of them at the Wanni Headquarters facilitated them to receive a detailed account of all development projects taking place in the area with special relevance to resettlement, rehabilitation, de-mining and reconciliatory moves.

During their tour, the group visited the Punthottam Rehabilitation Centre for Ex-LTTE combatants and the Menik Farm relief village. The tour took place a few days ago following coordination done by Ministry of Defence and Ministry of External Affairs.
