Ambalangoda Hails Army Commander

ARMY COMMANDER General Sarath Fonseka was felicitated by the people at his home town, Ambalangoda and teachers and students of his alma mater “Dharmasoka College” – Ambalangoda during a ceremony on Friday (10).

The felicitation at Dharmasoka College included a Guard of Honour accorded to the Army Commander by Cadets at Dharmasoka and presentation of mementoes to the Commander. Addressing the students, Commander recollected his school time memories at Dharmasoka College. The ceremony was attended by the teachers, students and old boys.

 After the ceremony at Dharmasoka, the Commander attended another felicitation ceremony of the people at Amblangoda which was organized by the Urban Council – Ambalangoda at Ambalangoda Town Hall. The main feature of this ceremony was the awarding of a special memento by the Chief Minister of southern province and Mayor of Ambalangoda on behalf of the people in the south and Ambalangoda to the Army Commander in appreciation of his service to the nation. The Commander addressed the senior citizens of Ambalangoda at the ceremony and recollected his memories in his home town. The ceremony was attended by the Chief Minister of Southern Province, Shan Wijayalal de Silva, Mayor of Ambalangoda Mr. M.W. Aruna Pradeep and members of the urban council Ambalangoda.
