Attaching religious significance, all the Officers, Civil Lecturers, Officer Cadets and Non Commissioned Officers (NCO) at Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA), the premier seat of learning in the Army, joined under one roof and observed ‘Sil’ on ‘Navam’ full moon Poya Day (14) at the SLMA premises.
Ven. Aluthwela Mahindawansha Thero of Aththadassi temple, Ven. Kurunegala Amithananda Thero of Diyatalawa Galkanda Sri Sambodhi Meditation Centre, Ven. Haputale Dhammananda Thero, Vice Principal, Kadurugamuwa National College and Ven. Medamulane Vijayabodhi Thero of Umaela Purana Raja Maha Viharaya, went ahead with the day’s arrangements, including meditation sessions, preaching, alms-giving, charity work, etc.
The programme, launched as a suggestion, made by Brigadier I.P Ranasinghe, Commandant, SLMA, drew participation of a large gathering which was covered by a 'Neth' FM radio channel.
