Cricketers in all formations under the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) got together at 643 Brigade Headquarters playground and Oddusudan school ground in order to participate in a cricket tournament, organized by the SFHQ-MLT, following instructions, given by Major General L.B.R Mark, Security Force Commander, Mullaittivu.
Although 42 cricket teams participated in the first rounds of the tournament, only teams from 24 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR), 59 Division team, 6 Battalion Sri Lanka Army Service Corps, (SLASC), 16 Battalion Engineer Service Regiment (ESR), 18 Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), 6 Battalion Military Intelligence Corps (MIC), 25 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) and 7 Battalion Gemunu Watch (GW), were able to enter the final rounds.
However, 25 SLNG cricketers in the final match beating their rival, 6 SLASC with 25 runs carried away the championship in the tournament.
On the final day of the tournament (4 May), Major General L.B.R Mark, Commander, SFHQ-MLT attended the event as the Chief Guest where he was introduced to players of both competing teams. Championship and runners up trophies were awarded by the Chief Guest towards the conclusion of the final match.
