The award-winning veteran actor Mr. Amarasiri Kalansuriya who passed away this morning (01) before his span of cinema career has also served as a Lance Corporal in the Sri Lanka Army’s 2 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) having joined the Army in 1963.
Records confirm that the soldier-turned popular actor has served the Army during the peak of 1971 JVP insurrection.
