A sudden fire that occurred in a scrap iron shop at Akkaraipattu town area at around 10.30 am on Tuesday (06 June) was brought under control by 11 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops with the support of Akkaraipattu Policemen, Salvation Army members and the residents in the area.
Troops prevented its spread into nearby shops and buildings in the location while fighting to douse it. The Commander, 241 Infantry Brigade, Colonel L.S.D.N Pahirathna RSP USP, closely supervised the involvement of the 241 Infantry Brigade troops for the task.
