The certificate-awarding ceremony of the Advanced Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law Course No: 25 (HR & IHL) got underway at the Institute of Peacekeeping Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL) on Monday (5 December), headed by Brigadier Krishantha Peiris, Director, Directorate of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.
The Course, began on 8 November was conducted under the supervision of the Directorate of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law before it culminated on 12 December with the participation of 27 Officers and 33 Other Ranks of the tri-services and the Police.
Learned scholars of the Universities of Colombo and Kelaniya, Officials of the Humanitarian Law Commission of Sri Lanka and other resource personnel delivered the lectures. In addition, delegates of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) also conducted a four-day long workshop for students during the course.
Major H.K.P.M Hettiarachchi of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps was awarded the Best Officer certificate in the course and Sergeant K.P.D.H Dayanga of Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps was adjudged the best Other Rank in the Course.
