Professor K. Paheerethan and Dr. J. Arasakesary, representing the Department of Agriculture Biology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna, led a delegation to Army Farm, Jaffna on 26 March 2024 with the aim of uplifting and elevating cultivation practices at the farm.
The delegation received a warm welcome from the Brigadier Admin and Quartering of Security Forces, Jaffna, upon arrival at the farm premises. Following the reception, the visiting delegation embarked on a site visit to inspect the cultivation of various crops. They engaged in discussions with farmers, identifying problematic areas and offering expert ideas and knowledge to improve crop development and ensure better harvests.
Afterwards, the academic staff paid a courtesy call on Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B. Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna, at his office. During the discussion, emphasis was placed on developing cultivation practices not only at Army Farm, Jaffna but also at the greenhouse located at Headquarters, Security Forces, Jaffna.
