9th Mitra Shakti Exercise Begins in Pune

The 9th Edition of the Joint Military Exercise ' Mitra Shakti-2023' formally commenced on Thursday (16 Nov) in Aundh, Pune, India with the joined by 120 troops of the Indian Army, 123 troops of the Sri Lankan Army, 15 troops of the Indian Air Force and 05 troops from Sri Lankan Air Force.

Major General P.G.P.S Rathnayaka RWP RSP ndc, General Officer Commanding, 53 Division together with Brigadier S Taluja, Commander, 330 Infantry Brigade in India graced the formal inauguration as Chief Guests.

The aim of the Exercise is to jointly rehearse conduct of Sub Conventional operations under the Chapter VII of the UN Charter. The scope of the Exercise includes synergizing joint responses during counter-terrorist operations.

Both Armed Forces during the Exercise will practise tactical actions such as raid, search and mission destruction, heliborne operations, etc. In addition, Army Martial Arts Routine (AMAR), combat reflex shooting and Yoga will also form as a part of the Exercise.
