92 Families in Pooneryn Given Relief Packs

With generosity extended by past students of Colombo Royal College Class of 1982, Major General Ajith Dissanayake, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 66 Division under the Security Force HQ-Mullaittivu, together with his troops distributed dry ration packs among 92 needy families in Pooneryn area to the value of Rs 2 lakhs on Friday (23).

The event held at Pooneryn Central College as a relief to economic difficulties, faced by civilians during COVID-19 pandemic in the country, was staged under the motto, “You and us - Together stronger - We win when One”

According to the instructions of the District Secretary for Kilinochchi, Mrs Rupawathi Kethiswaran, the officials at the Pooneryn Divisional Secretariat selected the most deserving needy families in Pooneryn Divisional Secretariat area before those relief packets were distributed.

Mrs Rupawathi Kethiswaran, District Secretary graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Commanders of 661 Brigade, 662 Brigade, Colonel AQ, 66 Division, Civil Affairs Officer, Commanding Officers, Divisional Secretary for Pooneryn and few Grama Niladari officials participated in the event.
