The Inter Unit Cricket Tournament of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC)-2023 organized by the 4 Sri Lanka Signal Corps got underway at 4 Sri Lanka Signal Corps Cricket Ground in Anuradhapura under the guidance of the Chief Signal Officer of Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps Major General K.A.W.S Ratnayake ndu.
The tournament was organized with the objective of identifying skills and potential cricket players of the Corps of Signals and grooming them for the forthcoming regimental level tournaments in order to gain competitive exposure.
The initial rounds of the competition were held on 20 July 2023 and continued until 23 July 2023 and the final was played on 09 August 2023.
In the finale tussle, the 9 Sri Lanka Signal Corps cricket team became the champions scoring 33 runs after a thrilling encounter against the 1 Sri Lanka Signal Corps.
Corporal M.R.N De Zoysa of 9 SLSC became the man of the tournament while Lance Corporal L.M.P.Y Premalal of 9 SLSC was adjudged the best batsman and man of the match in the finals.
Corporal S.P.S Udaya Kumara of 9 SLSC became the best bowler in the tournament.
The Chief Signal Officer of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps Major General K.A.W.S Rathnayake ndu witnessed the finals as the Chief Guest on the invitation of the Commanding Officer of 4 Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Lieutenant Colonel R.D.R.M Fernando RSP USP psc.
Several Senior Officers of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps, all Staff Officers, a gathering of Other Ranks and all players of units were there during the event.
