9 Sri Lanka National Guard (9 SLNG) troops of the 681 Infantry Brigade under the 68 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ - Mullaitivu (SF-MLT) with the sponsorship provided by a group philanthropists distributed dry ration packs, each worth more than Rs. 3500.00 among 20 low-income group families in Udayarkattu and Sugandipuram areas on Thursday (June 15) after taking them to their doorsteps.
The project was launched after the troops observed economic diificulties of those recipients.
Major H.P.I Kumara, Commanding Officer of 9 SLNG and his troops prepared those dry ration items and took them to the beneficiaries under the supervision of Brigadier N.D.P Gunathunga, Commander of 681 Infantry Brigade.
Major General M.K Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu and Major General S Kasthurimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of 68 Infantry Division provided necessary guidelines to the project. Several Officers and Other Ranks took part in the distribution.
