Due to adverse weather conditions, troops of the 8 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) undertook the task of clearing roads, removing fallen trees, and assisting with damaged houses in the Thirukkovil area. This disaster relief operation was conducted under the guidance of Major E.D.S.K. Deniyaya, the Commanding Officer of the 8 SLNG.
