The 8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (8 SLLI), along with the Colombo and Gampaha Fire Brigades, quickly responded to extinguish a sudden fire at the Gragin Pipeline Yard in Kaduwela, owned by BSP Mendis and Company (Pvt) Ltd, on 28 February 2024.
Upon receiving a message, under the instructions of the Commander, the 141 Infantry Brigade, a group of 07 Officers and 57 Other Ranks rushed to the location. They successfully contained the fire, ensuring safety and security in the area through their coordinated efforts. Major Y.D.N. De Silva, the Commanding Officer of 8 SLLI, supervised the operation.
