6th Contingent Serving UNMISS Begins Returning after Completion of Tenure in South Sudan

The first team of four Officers and 26 Other Ranks in theSri Lanka Army Medical Corps' (SLAMC) 6th contingent who completed their near 16-month long tenure of service in the United Nations Peace-Keeping Mission in South Sudan's (UNMISS) Level-2 Hospital returned home this morning (16) and was despatched directly to the the Diyatalawa and Passara Quarantine Centres for necessary quarantine procedures.

The UN chartered Ethiopian Airlines flight No B-767-300 touched down the Colombo International Airport at about 2.30 am this morning (16), and all of them were subjected to PCR tests before they were taken to those two Quarantine Centres. The 6th contingent of 61 Army personnel, including 11 Officers left for the UNMISS assignment on 3 July 2019.

Meanwhile, the first group of the Sri Lankan Medical Corps' 7th contingent bound for the UNMISS in South Sudan to replace the returnees is expected to leave tomorrow (17). The first team of the 7th contingent includes Ten Officers and 22 Other Ranks.

This South Sudan-based new SRIMED Hospital, equipped with necessary components for secondary care medical services, including an operating theatre, labour room, intensive care unit, emergency department, out-patient department, dental surgery, dental workshop, pharmacy, medical store, radiology department, clinical laboratory, ECG room, sterilizing department, bio medical engineering section, medical waste disposal section, freezer mortuary, isolation ward and laundry plus wards, also enjoys an aero-medical evacuation facility with ambulatory resuscitation and ventilation capabilities and is manned by the Sri Lankan contingent. best shoes | Sneaker & Lifestyle News
