To be in line with the ‘Thuru Mithuru - Nawa Ratak’ conceptual notion, initiated by Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, the 681 Brigade of the 68 Division commenced cultivation of crops inside camp perimeters on Monday (27) during a simple ceremony.
Major General Jagath Rathnayake, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu at the invitation of Brigadier Upali Rajapaksha, General Officer Commanding, 68 Division and Colonel Nalin Hettiarachchi, 681 Brigade Commander planted a coconut sapling in the farm yard of the 681 Brigade camp and symbolized the inauguration of cultivations.
The project expects to grow more than 100 coconut saplings and all other vegetables and fruits inside the camp within next few weeks.
