An inter battalion 'Challenge Trophy Beach Volleyball Tournament' organized on a suggestion of the General Officer Commanding, 68 Infantry Division aiming to foster sportsmanship, good relations, friendship and understanding among serving troops got underway on Saturday (29 July) at Mullivaikkal beach.
Teams from the 68 Infantry Division, 681 Infantry Brigade, 682 Infantry Brigade, 6 Gemunu Watch, 3 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, 6 Sri Lanka National Guard and 9 Sri Lanka National Guard competed in the tournament.
After a close tussle, 9 Sri Lanka National Guard players won the championship while 3 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment came in for the second place. General Officer Commanding, 68 Infantry Division, Major General S. Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and joined the awarding ceremony.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
