To coincide with the ‘World Deaf Day’, 68 Division troops under the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) on Friday (26) conducted a Shramadana (self-help) campaign to rid garbage surrounding the Walvu Illam School for the Deaf and the Blind at Wallipulam village in Mullaittivu.
More than 30 soldiers and officers on the directions of Major General A Kariyakarawana, General Officer Commanding, 68 Division, joined hands together to conduct the cleaning programme beginning at 8.30 a.m. on Friday (26).
Soon after the Shramadana, 68 Division troops entertained those 58 inmates in the school to a sumptuous lunch, together with members of the school staff. Major General Kariyakarawana was also present at the venue during the special lunch treat to those handicapped children.
Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, SFHQ-MLT has given all his blessings and instructions to the project.
