682 Brigade troops on directions given by the 68 Division serving Puthukudiyiruppu area conducted a workshop and a medical clinic for two days at Wallipunam school and Kombawil Vignashwara school for the benefit of newly resettled people.
Brigadier K.P.A Jayasekara, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 68 Division with the blessings of the Security Forces Headquarters, Mullaittivu conducted this clinic for blood tests on Diabetes, Malaria, Leishmaniasis, High Blood Pressure, Malnutrition, etc on behalf of those resettled civilians. Over 288 civilians in Wallipunam and Thevipunam villages underwent those tests during the clinic. Similarly, 5000 coconuts were distributed among 500 resettled families around the same occasion.
At Kombawil school, under Kombawil Grama Seva Sector, 231 resettled returnees received medical support from the mobile clinic. Coconuts were donated to some 300 selected civilians.
Meanwhile, 682 Brigade troops recently held a blood donation campaign for use of patients at Jaffna and Anuradhapura Teaching Hospitals.
176 Army personnel came forward to offer blood to hospital blood banks and blood obtained from 65 Army personnel were donated to Jaffna Teaching Hospital at the same time soon after the clinic was over.
