The 68 Division organized a programme to celebrate their 6th Anniversary on December (10) on the directions of Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 68 Division.
The programme commenced with multi-religious observances including a Bodhi Pooja Pinkama at Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura. Two special Hindu Poojas were also conducted at Wattappalei and Pudukuddirippu Hindu Kovils.
Meanwhile, another Christian Service was held at Iranapalei, Pudukuddirippu Churches before Islamic Prayers were held at the Jumma Mosque in Mullaittivu.
Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, GOC, 68 Division, Officers and Other Ranks participated in all these religious events.
In addition, several sports events were organized to improve sports skills of officers and other ranks on account of the 6th anniversary.
The overall championship of the marathon competition held to this effect was won by the 14 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) and the overall championship of the handball competition went to 18 VIR team and 23 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) players won the overall cricket championship.
The anniversary programme reached its climax and a Guard Turn-out and a Guard of Honour saluting the General Officer Commanding in the parade ground.
The day’s programme culminated with an all rank lunch in the 68 division Headquarters.
