To coincide with the Vesak Poya Day, 653 Infantry Brigade troops of the 65 Infantry Division considering the economic hardships of 25 needy families in Kirisuddan village provided special lunch packets and coconut saplings on Vesak Day (5).
The General Officer Commanding, 65 Infantry Division, Major General E.A.D.P Edirisinghe psc instructed the 653 Infantry Brigade to carry out with the project since those families have been worst affected due to prevailing economic conditions.
Brigadier D.N.C Serasinghe RSP USP, Commander 653 Infantry Brigade joined the distribution of those 125 coconut saplings and 50 lunch packets among 25 low income group families.
Several Senior Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
