Brigadier Anil Samarasiri assumed duties as the 13th General Officer Commanding of the 65 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni, amidst religious blessings and military formalities at the 65 Division Headquarters in Alankulam on Monday (19).
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding of the 65 Division was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers in the Division Headquarters and honoured in a Guard Turnout, presented by 65 Division troops.
Later on, Brigadier Anil Samarasiri placed his signature for an official document to mark his acceptance of new duties as members of the Maha Sangha began chanting ‘Seth Pirith’ in the presence of several Senior Officers and other ranks.
Afterwards, he was invited to plant a sapling in the compound as a symbol of memory before his address to the troops was delivered. An all rank tea culminated the day’s brief ceremony.
Before he took over this appointment, Brigadier Anil Samarasiri served as the Commandant at Maduruoya Army Training School.
Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the Headquarters 65 Infantry Division, Commanding Officers and other ranks were present on the occasion.
