65 Division's Initiative Alerts Students against Use of Narcotics

School students learning at Mulankavil Central College and Mallavi Central College with the objective of preventing young ones from the use of narcotics and educating them on dangers, associated with such use, the 65 Infantry Division HQ initiated a series of educational projects in the most recent past.

Under the guidance and instructions of Major General Prasad Edirisinghe, General Officer Commanding of the 65 Infantry Division, the series of awareness programmes were conducted by Dr. Dushanthan, representatives of the MOH Office at Punakareen, Dr. Jegarooban, District Mental Health Officer, Mullaitivu, Dr. Dulanraja and MOH Office Representatives Mallavi and Manthai-East.

The events were coordinated by the Civil Affairs Officer of the 65 Infantry Division, Lieutenant Colonel J.D.U.T Kumara with the assistance of the Commanding Officer of the 17 Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Lieutenant Colonel M. Athurugiriya. The General Officer Commanding of the 65 Infantry Division graced the inaugural occasion of the project as the Chief Guest.

District Mental Health Office, Mullaittivu also at the same occasion launched a training seminar for its staff. Zonal Education Directors, all MOH Doctors PHIs and Police Officers in the area also participated in the programmes.
