65 Division Marks its 10th Anniversary

The 65 Division with several programmes celebrated its 10th Anniversary on Saturday (15) on the directions of the incumbent General Officer Commanding, Brigadier Wasantha Kumarapperuma. On the anniversary day (15), troops presented a Guard Turnout and an inspection parade to the General Officer Commanding on arrival at the premises as a formality. It followed an All Rank tea table, get-together meets at Officers’ Mess and the Sergeants' Mess get-together, and a musical entertainment.

Division also separately organized a Cricket and Volleyball tournament among all ranks to mark the event. The construction of the perimeter boundary of the Thunukkai Government Tamil Central College was completed to coincide with the 10th Anniversary as a community assistance programme extending goodwill among civilians in Thunukkai.

The Task Force 5 raised on 15th December 2008 was renamed as 65 Division on 18 September 2009. Presently, the Division Headquarters located at Alankulam-Thunukkai has three Brigades, namely 651, 652 and 653 with six Infantry Battalions under command to the Division.
